Haad Thip Plc. (HTC) reported a summary of its audited annual financial statements as follows: (In Baht) For Year Ended December 31 1996 1995 HTC Net profit 16,993,348.85 60,334,181.48 EPS 1.15 4.54 Following is the reasons why lower percentange points of net profits gained by 1996 was increasing over 20% compared with the same period 1995: 1.It was heavily rainny during October to December, more heavily than the same period a year before, so the following flood effected people in Southern Thailand not to earn much. 2.Overall economy was sluggish, especially in the southern, as people could not earn from their major activities, para rubber and palm oil plantation, resulted from above problem. 3.Lower number of tourists also effected the business as Asian tourists who has saving consumer behaviour rather than American or European seemed to travel in Thailand at increasing amount. 4.The concentrate mixture which is a principle raw material cost more highly. 5.As company founded more warehouses as many as possible to distribute products nationwide, other expenses--plot of land, construction, transport trucks, gasoline and other maintenence-- eventually leaped up. 6.Growth rate of aerated water industries nationwide in 1996 recorded at 4% which was lower than every firms' prediction. HTC had growth rate at around 8.59%.
